Three Alcobaca Pottery Cat Figurines are beautiful examples of the wonderful ELPA Alcobaca Pottery in Alcobaca, Portugal. The factory has been in business since 1875.
Alcobaca Pottery makes most anything you could want out of the clay native to the area. This region has been working with clay since the neolithic period.
Today, the factory is still in business making a beautiful variety of inspiring Portuguese designs.
These three Alcobaca cat collectibles are as follows:
No. 1: Cream White kitten with blue eye with paw covering other eye. This cat also sports six small blue flowers on the body. Its measurements are 6″ T x 6 1/4″ W at the widest point across. There is some crazing on this little one but no cracks or chips.
No. 2: Solid White Kitten with green eye and paw covering other eye. Its measurements are 6″ T x 6 1/4″ W at the widest point across. This kitten has no crazing or other imperfections at all.
No. 3: “Mother” Cat has two blue eyes and six flowers added to her body. They are pink/purple flowers with green leaves and a dark blue leaf accent. She measures about 8.5″ T and about 7″ wide at the widest points. The base measures 5.5″. There is some crazing that only adds to the delicacy of the portuguese pottery. No chips or cracks.
