A. Lanternier Limoges Plate. This beautifully produced plate was made by the Lanternier family in Limoges, France where many companies moved for the use of Kaolin, a porcelain ingredient previously found only in China but discovered in nearly Saint-Yrieix in mid 18th century. Frederic Lanternier started the firm under the family name in 1857. When the son joined, the mark became A. Lanternier & Co.
Its size in 6 5/8″ D x 3/4″ H and is in excellent condition.
The company produced more than 400 patterns during its time in business from 1857 to the late 1960s when it was merged with Porelaines G.D.A. This plate contains two marks:
- A Limoges Depose
- A Lanternier, Limoges, France.
